In the midst of one of the worse, notoriously violent communities in Chicago, Elijah Jamal spent his teen years developing his passion and skills as a writer, musician, vocalist and producer in heart of North Lawndale. He was protected by a family, that was committed to serving God, as well as the community. Elijah began showing his abilities as a dancer and singer at the age of 6. While intrigued by the
influences of Michael Jackson, Boyz II Men, Take 6, and being the youngest of a musical family that is filled with talent, Elijah grew fond of singing background and developing harmonies with the family. Elijah Elijah comes from the bloodline of International singer/actress and legend, Abbey Lincoln (his Great Aunt), son of national recording artist and author Dr. Aaron Jamal, and Singer/composer/author Dr. Margaret Jamal. Elijah majored in music and graduated from Triton College at the age of 18. He released his first CD as an independent artist on his birthday July 31, 2012, entitled “Music is My Wife.” He has since continued to write and produce music that has been featured in the movie trailer of “The Perfect Match (2016)”, ABC Family’s “Switched at Birth”, and BET’s “The Quad” to name a few. In a continuing effort to expand his overall talent, Elijah has even acted and or sung in several plays including: The Wiz, Dream Girls, The Nativity, and Ferguson the Musical to name a few. Articulate, diversely talented and easy on the eyes, Elijah continues to remain confident but humble that his “God-given” talent is to be shared with the world. Elijah continues to compose thought provoking and inspiring songs that reflect what life is about. |
